Ash meets the gym leader Cissy and challenges her to a battle. When the smoke clears Pikachu and Togepi are gone. Tracey's Pokémon watching skills are put to quite a test, while Ash's attempts at observing lead to trouble for both his friends and a feisty pink Rhyhorn. However, Ethan is injured, and now Ash, Misty, and Tracey must help him get to the next town while fending off Team Rocket and keeping track of his sneaky Magnemite 6. Then, Meowth and Pikachu get lost without the key.

Everyone heads to Professor Oak's lab where Tracey finally gets to meet him in person. Ash, Misty, and Tracey are on Mandarin Island where Ash has just won three battles in a row. They reach an island where a ferry is supposed to take them to Pallet Town. Aboard Lapras, the group follows a news crew to an uninhabited island, where a scientific expedition is underway after the discovery of a fossilized Kabuto. Instead of a battle Ash must complete a few tests. What they don't know though, is that it was a setup by Team Rocket.
Scyther tries to put up a fight but Tracey has Venonat put it to sleep and he catches it. At the center Nurse Joy tells them about how wild Scyther live and this must have been the former leader of its group. When the pirates attack, Ash, Misty, and Tracey agree to help Officer Jenny stop them and save Lapras' family. The Advanced Battle series concludes with the Battle Frontier saga, based on the Emerald version and including aspects of FireRed and LeafGreen. You should be able to hear audio just fine if you have one of the mentioned codec packs above. Ash finally arrives on Navel Island for his second Gym Battle.
In the woods they find an injured Scyther and try to catch it so it can be taken to the Pokémon Center. When Misty goes to recover her bag, there is a Golduck hanging from it. I like how they have the ending theme on the episodes, although I would want it to have the opening theme as well. This trainer heard about Ash from the Trovita Island Gym Leader and wants to put his Pokémon up against Ash's. The answers to come, as the journey continues! Ash and Gary have a battle, and although he puts up a fight, Ash ultimately loses.
